Sorry for the neglect of the site for the past week – my sister got married on 9/4 and I was pretty busy! Have some posts I’m getting together for wedding-related crafts, but in the meantime enjoy some of my favorites!

Fun, Unique and Fibery Art!

I like for everything that I make to be a little bit different or slightly off from what you’d expect- (and for it to include corduroy if at all possible). I like to alter shapes (if I’m going to make a wallet, I want it to be round, if I’m making a fabric covered box I want it to be a triangle box rather than square, if I’m embroidering I want to use a rough wool yarn instead of the typical smooth & satiny DMC floss).

I encourage anyone to check out my Love Bug Experiment! You don’t have to be a knitter, just create a Love Bug of some kind, attach a note full of positive energy, then leave him somewhere to make a stranger’s day!

What got you started crafting?
I’ve always been interested in handmade since my childhood. I loved making cute little crocheted things with my mother. It was only some months ago that I decided to turn my fun into a kind of “work”.

Today’s featured crafter, Heather Muise, is definitely on the same page as us. We share her disdain for “battery operated plastic junk”, and wholeheartedly agree that no meal could ever possibly contain too much sushi. Anyone with the vision to crochet two-headed, siamese twin cats is someone we’re happy to share the earth with :)

Random Facts About You?
I always wear socks inside out. I lived in Hawaii for four years. I don’t like writing about myself :) I grew up wearing clothes that were made by my Grandmom.

What have you made recently?
I recently made a bag using fabric from a dress. First I made a pattern. I’m not that good at explaining the process. I just see something in my mind and then I make it.

What got you started crafting?
My Grandmom and Great Grandmom taught me how to crochet when I was 5. I made a chain that circled the entire house! The obession started there. Gradually my grandmom taught me how to sew and do beading.
