My mother always got us excited about weekend craft projects when we were growing up, and my parents were very supportive of me furthering my creativity. I also began to really love playing with my mother’s and grandmother’s collections of jewelry, and pretty soon that evolved into me making my own jewelry.

Two of the best things that people have told me:

The first quote is fairly recent, while I was having a conversation about our business and about inspiration. It rang so true with me, and I share it with other creative people every chance I get.
The second quote is from my elementary school art teacher (who I got to thank a few weeks ago.) Between that philosophy and the fearlessness Mom instilled in me by encouraging me to try new things, I don’t know how you can go wrong! Never be afraid to try, and don’t be too hard on yourself if you think you’ve messed it up. It may end up being the best thing you’ve ever created.

I create jewelry that is not only handmade and pretty, but it is well made and made with supplies I have bought from other small businesses on etsy, for example. So when someone buys an item from me, they are actually supporting multiple small businesses. Kind of a nice thought, if you ask me!

I honestly get my inspiration from the supplies I have. I don’t usually go into the store with an idea in mind. I pick things off the shelves, beads and wire and combine them in my head. I have a hard time shopping for ‘needed’ supplies, so instead, I have a pile of supplies that I pick through and combine to make what comes out as the finished product!

My bags have a distinctive look and previous buyers (when I had my own website) have found me by “knowing” I made these bags. I love my buyers! They love my artistic ability and workmanship and that means more to me than any feedback given. I have many buyers who come back to purchase over and over and over. Some have purchased enough bags to open their own shops.

I was strolling through our local mall and saw this gentlemen scroll sawing.. I started asking questions and became very interested. I bought a cheap scroll saw and the next thing I know I was totally hooked on this craft. Mad more than my share of mistakes, but that’s how I learned and the rest is history as they say.

Being as busy as I am, I don’t have time to free-craft. My free time is spent doing laundry, lol. My love of music has to take a backseat to my family and my business, but it’s not anything I could list here or show you in a picture.
