Color, creativity and respect

email

We are the captains of Finland Handcrafters Team on etsy, a team with many members and the goal is to make Finnish artisans to be recognized in and outside Etsy in Finland and in the rest of the world.

Jennifer Ramirez

Random Facts About You?

We love to make amigurumi creations
We give our patterns for free and people can donate what they want in payment for our effort and ideas
We are nature people
We love to spread awareness about our planet and the love for living beings

What got you started crafting?

We have been crafty people, sharing our passion for animals, colors and fun things. We started by doing all kinds of things from recycled materias and forest pieces until we found that through crocheted and felted products we could have lots of fun and a message as well

What is your source of inspiration?

Mainly the ideas come from our admiration for animals and nature. We spend a lot of time in the woods, and inside there you learn how to appreciate every single living form. Through that admiration and the crystallization of our ideas we spread a message of awareness because we want animals and nature to be treated with dignity and respect.

What have you made recently?

We recently made many owl cosies for a craft fair. We thought would be fun to make coffee mugs because winter is approaching fast. and in Finland coffee is very important because during six months we have just a few hours of light and that makes us very sleepy.

Also people tend to become grumpy and we have the nice idea that would be nice to have something fun in your coffee traveling mug that can make people smile at work and can warm your hands at the same time.

First we select very good quality traveling mugs, then Jennifer knits the body of the owls and add all the extra details paying lots of attention in capturing different moods for every single owly. To finnish she adds the wooden button and pack them in a very nice box that explains the importance of diminishing the consumption of paper cup and facts about owls. What it fascinates us about this owls is that they can really make your day! We love to see the expression of people in the metro when you are drinking your coffee and you have that cutie in your hand.

Where do you sell your crafts presently?

Mainly via internet, we have many patterns on our etsy store and other wool goodies.

On our webpage the people who gets the free patterns can donate for our materials and time spent. We also sell in craft fairs here in Finland.

The donations that we get are specially for materials and 25% of them goes to the Spoon Revolution. An organization that spreads awareness about the respect for animals and the environmental and social impact of the meat industry.

Why are handmade crafts important to you?

Handmade goods give you the feeling of caring for what you as a human being can create with your own hands. it is a homage to the human potential and it makes you unique. Industrial design is very impersonal and makes you always part of a mass that looks and thinks alike.
