I am a Farmer's wife (literally, he parks a tractor in my driveway!)
I never seem to get jokes of any kind, mostly I fake laugh to make everyone think I got it
I live in a town with a population of 296
and I just turned 40 O M G !
What got you started crafting?
I was bored after my third child was born and could no longer justify working a career outside of the home. (The old ball on my chain put his foot down and said it was time to come home and burp the babies.) So I decided to buy a sewing machine. I had seen my mother do it and it looked easy enough, haha. Once I got my feet wet with sewing the basics I decided that I had a real talent for picking materials and creating kids clothes. I then branched into embroidering and that's all she wrote for me. Now a days I do more embroidering than sewing. I do love it though.
What is your source of inspiration?
I would love to give some poetic response like 'my children inspire me' but that is so not true. It would be really hard to narrow down that answer because inspiration can hit anytime anywhere.
What have you made recently?
I am currently working on Christmas items so I recently made two dresses that compliment each other. They are both red knit a-line dresses with ruffles and bows but one says 'Be Jolly' and one says 'Be Merry'. Super cute for siblings for holiday pictures.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I mainly sell on Etsy however, I have a few local accounts around my small town. I am always looking to expand my wholesale business, wink wink
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
I can certainly answer this question (here comes my political soapbox)
We have got to bring industry back to the USA!
I know I am small time but, hey, we have to start somewhere and I am trying to be the example. (I am a one woman show but occasionally hire a seasonal worker.) Anyway, I try very hard to buy handmade or products made in the USA too.
