Highly Detailed Knitted and Felted Patterns

email

Nature, especially the color combinations. I would never think of them on my own. Never ending choices.

Marie Mayhew

Random Facts About You?

I prefer knitting over housework. I am an encouraging person. I love detail. I am a practical person.

What got you started crafting?

I have crafted since I was little. I love working with my hands. It calms me. I have always loved sculpture even though I flunked it in college. I started knitting to make mittens, a practical art form for my children. And fell into designing knit & felt patterns quite by accident.

What is your source of inspiration?

Nature, especially the color combinations. I would never think of them on my own. Never ending choices.

What have you made recently?

My Woolly Matroyshka Dolls pattern is my newest, available September 1, 2012. I love them for how simple they are to knit & felt, but how wonderful they are for embellishing upon such as, embroidery, needle felting, beading, wool applique and more!

Where do you sell your crafts presently?

I sell my patterns and sculptures on Etsy, in my 'That's Woolly Something' shoppe.

Why are handmade crafts important to you?

To encourage the creative spirit in all of us. I am always amazed at other people's creativity and their thought process behind it. So many have encouraged me when I was just getting started, I want to be able to do the same for others.

Marie’s work is one of the best I have ever seen. She is always willing to help out another Artisan, it is obvious she has a big heart.

Stephanie, I don’t know where you can in Milan, but if you go on Etsy.com you can find lots of felting needles and supplies and they will ship them to you.

I don’t know how old I am. Well I do sort of, but when I’m asked I have to work it out from my date of birth as its not a number that’s kept to hand in my head.

My biggest accomplishment is getting a few regular customers who always return to my shop when they need some gifts for friends. It is so nice to have them trust me and order something new from me too! Happy customers make me happy.

I like to draw and photograph birds, I study their feathers in order to dye domestic feathers to mimic them. I like everything about birds except … actual birds. Any bird bigger than a sparrow scares the hell out of me!
