Back to the PRIZES
Each winner will receive, courtesy of Faber-Castell, a Mix & Match Mixed Media Sampler Kit and Color Gelatos & Clear Stamp Kit, as well as a copy of The Wilderness of Manitoba’s new album – When You Left The Fire.
Additionally, one super lucky winner will receive a 1 month surprise gift subscription from Fair Ivy delivered to their doorstep.
Faber-Castell Mix & Match
It’s never the mixing that’s a problem for me, it’s the matching… Luckily, Faber-Castell does the thinking for you with color coordinated palettes that give you the ability to design your project without worrying whether your next craft is going to end up looking like your nephew’s latest monster drawing. Their Mix & Match line really is perfect for all those design, memory, scrapbooking and craft projects you have laying around waiting for finishing touches.
The Mixed Media Sampler Sets come in Red, Yellow, Blue and Green – and really make designing with color simple (I swear)! Each set includes: a Stamper’s Big Brush, Gelato Metallic Stick, Pastel Pencil and Art GRIP Aquarelle Watercolor pencil. I have to admit, at first when I read “rubber stamps” I immediately began having nightmares of grade school art projects, but these stamps really help you to work with the different mediums and experiment.
The Color Gelatos (yes, I wanted to eat them too when I heard the name and description) are creamy sticks infused with vibrant color. It’s pretty amazing how easily the color just slides onto paper – and the best part is that they can then be dissolved with water to create watercolor effects, or leave them alone to dry for bursts of color. You can stamp with these as well – either to add blocks of color or to remove color. And want to know the best part? Color Gelatos are acid-free and odorless!
The Wilderness of Manitoba, When You Left The Fire Album
Melissa is a member of the Canadian band, The Wilderness of Manitoba. She was featured as a crafter on Heart Handmade Blog for her jewelry and fibre work, and she reminds us that “craft” comes in many flavors. Right now making music is keeping her busy, but she aspires to work more with pattern design and eventually have a small-scale screenprinting studio in her home, as well as a place to work on her jewelry.
The majority The Wilderness of Manitboa’s new album and the EP were recorded in the basement studio of a Toronto house, where most of the members live together. It was in the garage out back where the band made their live debut, staging a number of shows until swelling crowds forced them into proper venues. The EP rose quickly to #5 on Canada’s CBC Radio 3 chart and they were soon invited to play England’s Camden Crawl in May and the End of the Road Festival in September. In early 2011 the band performed to a packed house at NYC’s Mercury Lounge.
Mostly avoiding electric instruments, the contemplative arrangements of The Wilderness of Manitoba instead rely on the strength of their incredibly warm vocal harmonies and organic melodies. Yet despite the rich vocal arrangements, a sense of longing and loneliness permeates the album. If you want to have a listen for yourself, here’s a link to one of their mp3’s – of course, you could just enter the giveaway and have their entire album to listen to at your leisure!
Fair Ivy
I absolutely love this idea. First, it totally reminds me of those goody bags I used to BEG my mother to buy for me at the Hello Kitty store. They always had the neatest little surprises inside – often things I would never have thought to pick up on my own. Second, who doesn’t love to get mail?! Third, I’m hard pressed to think of a more perfect Mother’s Day gift.
With a subscription to fair ivy surprise packages, each month you’ll receive something fun, luxurious, and unique on your doorstep. A large portion of the items included in the monthly surprise packages are handmade. In addition, their packages are as eco-friendly as humanly possible, using crinkle paper instead of styrofoam to protect all of the exciting surprises.
Of course, we wouldn’t want anyone to feel left out, so there are packages for everyone! Fun ivy is for teens and anyone young at heart—the items inside are whimsical, fun, kooky and just generally awesome! Fair ivy packages are for women (or girls who love luxury) and are cute, luxurious and also a wee bit of fun. For the non-woman audience, fred ivy packages are for men and are best described as geeky-chic! And lastly, the fur ivy packages are for cats and dogs and their loving owners!
