Modern Vintage Chic

email

All of my pieces are one of a kind, made using jewelry and supplies that I find in antique/resale/thrift shops and at estate sales. Everything is deconstructed and the different bits and pieces are used to design and create new items with a modern-vintage feel to them. The idea of taking things that were once treasured but now are unwanted or broken and creating new pieces out of them really appeals to me.

Random Facts About You?

1. I'm originally from NY and now live in LA.

2. I love scary movies.

3. I'm allergic to strawberries.

4. My favorite TV shows are True Blood and Project Runway.

What got you started crafting?

I've been into arts and crafts since I was a little girl, always drawing, painting, sewing something, anything... I continue to do it because I love it and it's a great creative outlet.

What is your source of inspiration?

Music, movies & fashion.

What have you made recently?

I recently created an original framed art piece created with vintage jewelry that I absolutely love. This piece is titled "In the Garden" and looks so amazing in person with its richly colored tapestry backing in shades of dark green and burnt orange. I carefully selected and positioned this piece of tapestry and three coordinating vintage brooches, which include a cameo depicting a trio of women, a pearl brooch that resembles a bunch of grapes, and an elegant gold tone rose brooch. Set in a modern black frame, 9 x 4 1/2 in.

Such a unique and thoughtful gift. Perfect for Valentine's Day! This will be a wonderful addition to any room or office, ready to place standing on a table or desk, on a mantle or bookshelf, or hang on the wall. This is a unique conversation piece with beautiful colors and lots of visual interest and will look amazing wherever it is placed.

Where do you sell your crafts presently?

I sell my jewelry and art in person locally and on Etsy at http://www.etsy.com/shop/NouveauTique

Why are handmade crafts important to you?

When you buy a handmade piece, you are supporting an independent artisan, not a huge corporation. It means so much more to that seller and you have that great one-on-one communication with the person who actually sat down and made your piece by hand because they love what they do.
