All Little Red packaging is made from 80% recycled materials! I currently work from my home but am hoping to convert a garage into an eco-workshop within the next year – this will involve solar panels and a mini wind turbine to provide the energy I’ll need, plus nifty ways of keeping the heat (very important when working in Scotland!).
My first bracelets came into being as something constructive and positive to do while recovering from a sudden and life threatening illness.
Two years ago this June, I woke to find myself in the intensive care unit with absolutely no knowledge of how I got there. I learned that I had become ill from an infection that was a side effect of a routine tooth extraction. I came very close to dying, had several life saving surgeries, and am blessed to be here today.
I lost my job, home, and life as I knew it, but surviving such a near death experience has made me feel and believe that I am indeed – CHARMED. Hence my name, Charmed Design.
Suffice it to say that is, “more than just your average feature”.
Today’s crafter is not just a beautiful, talented woman, she is also a friend. A friend with whom I’ve shared nights of gut busting laughter and undoubtedly stole gallons of hot water from during our days at the luxurious Temple Towers.
Sam is one of those people that seems to have found a way to extract a full 24 hours from each day. In fact, right now she’s pursuing a doctorate degree, working full time in the Philly school district, organizing a bevy of fundraisers and making all sorts of handcrafted buttoned and bejeweled goodies.
As if all that wasn’t enough, for the past month Sam has been undergoing treatments and getting all Bruce Lee on Hodgkins Lymphoma.
In the spirit of altruism, her Etsy shop (Hodge Podge) donates money from each sale to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Not only do you get a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art, you are supporting a supremely worthy cause.
