My daughter didn’t want fresh flowers for her wedding. After seeing a design for button bouquets in a bride’s magazine, she asked me to make them but she wanted them to pop. I took the idea and ran with it adding glitz and glamour, sparkles, tulle and ribbon. We had a button party where the bridal party drank wine, ate hor-dourves and strung the buttons for their bouquets. They all loved the results!
Why mass-produced? Why own a product that everyone else has? It’s so impersonal and boring. I would hate for a friend to visit my home and say ‘Oh we’ve got that in our lounge’. The following season, items are replaced with the new mass-produced predicted fashions. Additionally, handmade products are better quality, because so much care and thought is invested by the creator. I believe in supporting local communities and the UK economy.
I am not a fan of overly mass produced art or home decor. I like the idea of having a unique piece of art in my home rather than something that is in every home down the block. There are so many talented artists in the world that deserve a chance to show the world what they can do but never get the chance because of mass production. What you purchase or make homemade becomes something you treasure and appreciate more and may even pass down through your family.
I absolutely loved reading this application, and am so happy to feature this mother and daughter jewelry making team! How the mother half of this duo finds the time to craft while raising and homeschooling 7 children is beyond me – can you send me some of the SuperWoman juice you’re drinking?!?! Best wishes for much future success for this dynamic jewelry creating duo.
I am very excited today to feature a fellow pitbull and bully breed lover : ) …and not only is the an advocate for the breed, she gives back to the rescue community by donating a portion of her handmade jewelry sales back to a local rescue. Why not give her shop a look-see and support TWO great causes at the same time!
From today’s crafter – I would like to mention a necklace that I am currently selling. It is the My Valentine Custom Dog Silhouette Necklace. The necklace features your dogs silhouette all you have to do is get me a profile picture. This necklace is super special because $5 from each sale goes to Marley’s Pit Stop Rescue! A wonderful organization and my Liza’s previous home of 4 years before I found her and brought her to her forever home.
