I’ve always been creative, I don’t remember a specific time when I started being creative. I started painting a couple of years ago as an outlet from my day job and a way of dealing with the frustration that builds up when you’re a creative person feeling trapped behind the grey office walls day after day!

My dream is to open a handmade homewares/gallery type shop, that supports local talent and promotes handmade in general.
I work 30 hours a week at an office job - I'm constantly trying to balance all elements of my life without a lot of success at the moment! I work around the clock!
Believe in yourself! Don't just tell yourself that you can do it, but really believe in yourself deep down. If you have that kind of belief and determination, it will be the drive and the motivation that keeps you going when you feel like You're on your own.
What got you started crafting?
I've always been creative, I don't remember a specific time when I started being creative. I started painting a couple of years ago as an outlet from my day job and a way of dealing with the frustration that builds up when you're a creative person feeling trapped behind the grey office walls day after day!
What is your source of inspiration?
I am most often inspired by nature. I grew up in the country, and I think a lot of my inspiration comes from what I observed at home as a child. My parents farmed organic vegetables, and my mum was a florist. We had many beautiful gardens over the years, and were always surrounded by nature, especially birds.
What have you made recently?
In recent months I've been so busy doing work to sell at the Olive Tree Markets. I've just started making glass tile magnets, using reproductions of my paintings as the artwork.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I sell my work online through Etsy, and I'm planning to re-open my Artfire shop in the coming months.
I also sell my work at the Olive Tree Markets (http://www.theolivetreemarket.com.au/) at the Junction Public School (Newcastle) on the first Saturday each month.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
When you buy something that's handmade, you are buying more than just a product. You are supporting an individual and their dream/vision, and you can be assured that what you're buying has been made with love, care and attention to detail.
There's something so satisfying about directly supporting and artist/crafter and their skill/talent. As an artist myself, I also know how satisfying it when people buy something that you've made with your own hands - it's a process that is incredibly rewarding.
