What got you started crafting?
I have always been crafty/artistic. It keeps me motivated and the creative juices flowing. Since I was a young girl, I would do crafts with my mom and memere... even trying my hand at quilting and sewing. Unfortunately, that endeavor did not work out and I found them to be more stressful than relaxing. My favorite mediums are paints, brushes, pencils, paper/canvas and beads.
What is your source of inspiration?
So many, many things inspire me. Nature, Holidays/Seasons, family... I just let how I am feeling in that moment lead the way.
What have you made recently?
The latest item that I have created would be my "Pieces of Inspiration". These motivational art pieces came to be when I was playing with a very durable Ravensburger puzzle and thought that they wouldn't work so well as an art charm since they were really thick to pierce a whole through. I began painting on them and then layered them with some inspirational wording and put several in a small trinket dish. A friend came over and commented on them and asked if she could have one to keep in her purse as a sort of daily reminder/positive thought. It was then that I realized how wonderful these could be with almost limitless potential.
They are among my favorite items in the shop and sold in sets like "Educate", "Happy" and "Marry Me". I love that they are truly unique, positive, colorful works of art that carry a positive message.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
Most of my pieces began out as gifts. Then through word of mouth, I began selling pieces to friends or family. It was after a bit, that I decided to try my luck on Etsy and keep an active shop for people to visit and see what I am up to.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
A handmade item is unique, special. I love holding something... a painting, knit gloves, or a fresh smelling bar of soap, knowing it was created by hand. These artists and crafters, understand the meaning of putting their heart and soul, ideas and time into something original. Plus the quality is so much better!
More people should try and experience handmade and see for themselves.
