Handmade goods really stand out from the mass produced for me – just by the nature of the handmade process every piece is unique, and small imperfections add to the character.
You can also find some fantastic, unusual things design wise that are of fantastic quality – you know that the person making these things really cares.

I always wear navy and white stripes, but its not deliberate.
I can't live without my white ballpoint pen.
I don't drink tea or coffee.
I love drawing cats but I'm allergic to real ones.
What got you started crafting?
I have been a freelance illustrator for about 8 years and work in mixed media and collage so love making things with my hands. I have been creating for as long as I can remember but in recent years have really got into knitting and sewing.
I now like to combine my love of illustration with making things by hand, creating things like handmade mini books and my illustrated alphabet blocks.
What is your source of inspiration?
Everything! I love folk art, contemporary illustration, vintage fabric, stories...
What have you made recently?
My latest item for my shop is a set of three alphabet blocks featuring my illustrations and hand drawn type on all 6 sides. The blocks are handcut, sanded and painted then I apply the printed images and seal. They also come in a handmade drawstring bag.
I have also been working on the whole alphabet so customers can now order any letter combination they like - personalised sets are great for nursery decor. I found when my daughter was born that I was always looking out for personalised stuff for her bedroom.
The blocks are very tactile and fun to look at.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I have recently opened an Etsy shop to sell prints of my illustrations and other illustrated items.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
Handmade goods really stand out from the mass produced for me - just by the nature of the handmade process every piece is unique, and small imperfections add to the character.
