“I will take this opportunity to plug my home – Northern Ireland is beautiful you should all at some stage in your lives come and see it!”
If it means we can stop by the abbey where the baptismal font you created is on display, count us in!

What got you started crafting?
My mum, keeping me amused on summer holidays, got me knitting and stitching, crochet and anything I could get my hands on or dirty.
What is your source of inspiration?
Human nature, the need for ritual practice and the process of creation. we are all creators by nature.
What have you made recently?
I recently made a baptismal font for Bangor Abbey (Northern Ireland). Their last font was there for over 100 years, so I hope that mine will spend that same amount of time there. As you can see from the image there is a celtic whale, denoting an ancient myth associated with the Abbey, in particular this church of Ireland church is steeped in history with the journey of St. Comcille and aided the travel of the book of kells. The knot work is a lengthy process but I love that my work will have significance to many families that have their children christened their, that it will be apart of a shared history and community that I am privileged to make for.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
Mainly through private commission, I work a lot to bespoke orders and also do a lot of church work (baptismal fonts, communion sets, chalices, crosses etc.) although I do supply some small applied art galleries in Ireland and receive orders worldwide via my website.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
Because machines don't do it for me. Because I believe that we are given a talent and must use it to the best of our ability. Because much of what is mass produced is creating a global and generic culture and we must retain our social and cultural identity through our traditions.
