A lover of black, this Quebec native in inspired by everything around her from nature to furniture to her busy life with three kids. While she has an appreciation for the “old and antique” she isn’t driven to create anything from this era, which is readily seen in her uniquely modern crystal and beaded jewelry work.
Sarah Tabatabai
Originally I'm trained as an interior designer, but I never worked in the Field because I have 3 kids - they take all my time (in a good way)
I love black, and most of the things that I create use black
I have an appreciation for old & antique, but prefer modern stuff in everything from furniture to jewelry
One of my biggest dreams is to on day visit Italy because I'm fond of everything that is Italian
What got you started crafting?
I started beading as a hobby before a year, one of the first things that my Friend (which owns a beads store) was the Swarovski ball, i felt happy with what i create, so i started as a hobby & created several sets to wear them, My friends & relatives start admiring my work & encouraging me to sell them.So i listed my items on the kejiji & craigslist. After that i started On line store at Etsy
What is your source of inspiration?
I take my inspirations from everything around me, from Nature, from my clothes & even some time from my furniture.
I like to use crystal in my pieces - I also like the wire work, because it allows me to be creative in a different way.
What have you made recently?
I called this piece The Circle of Rainbow (the third picture), i got inspired by a rainbow over Niagara falls in my last visit, it was such a beautiful scene with the different colors of the rainbow hanging above the water.
I have used crystals in this piece and separated the colours with a sparkly space bar to reflect the sparkle of water. As for the circle, I really wanted it to pop, so I used a clear crystal for the rest.
Where do you sell your crafts presently?
I sell most of my pieces on line through my store at Etsy.
Why are handmade crafts important to you?
I like Handmade because I enjoy creating things that are special not available elsewhere; each piece teaches me a lot when working on it - like new techniques (of course i still have a lot of things to learn)!
